Etymology:
- This phrase began on the TV show "The Golden Girls" when Dorothy (Bea Arthur's character) would threaten to take her mother to the local retirement home called "Shady Pines" if she didn't act right. The actual phrase that was said was, "Shady Pines, Ma! Shady Pines!" to get her mother, Sophia, to stop whatever bad behavior she was doing/saying.
