Jump down Your Throat

Etymology:

• This is a 19th century popular phrase. Someone who jumps at you, he or she vaults or leaps off the ground quickly. You know your vocal cords or larynx is located in your throat that produce speech, you speak due to these vocal cords in your throat, so if anything you say that makes others angry or furious then they would be “jumping down your throat” by rebuking and yelling at you.
