Etymology:

  • The idiom refers to the person who has the ability of making large sum of money from any source. The idiom “Midas touch” originated from the story of a greedy King names Midas. The king always desired to grab all the riches of the world. The God rewarded the king a wish which he wanted that anything he touches will be turned into gold. After the wish was granted, the king seemed to be joyful but his food and daughter also turned into gold when he touched. This incident made him realize his foolish wish. In the present world, the idiom is used to refer a person who makes gold (large sum of money) at the mere touch.
